Stress And Anxiety

It is estimated that over 50% of all doctor’s visits in America are due to stress related illnesses.  People showing stress anxiety symptoms often show a whole variety of illnesses, including headaches, the common cold, aches and pains, the flu, and many common anxiety symptoms.

There are two types of stress anxiety disorders.  Post-traumatic stress disorder occurs after a very stressful event.  Over 7 million American adults suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, and the most common anxiety symptoms that accompany this disorder are: trouble sleeping, panic attacks, unfounded fear, difficulty concentrating, being overly sensitive, embarrassment and shame, having flashbacks to the stressor and low self-esteem.  Stress anxiety symptoms following a dramatic event can last for a couple of days to a lifetime after.  Post-traumatic stress disorder usually comes after a major disaster, for example after a fire, earthquake, terrorist attack, hurricane, act of violence, sexual abuse, accident, bullying or abduction.

People who experience post-traumatic stress disorder usually start to feel the stress anxiety symptoms that go along with this disorder within three months after the event that triggered it.  Recovery time varies from individual to individual, and the anxiety symptoms range in severity.

The second type of stress anxiety disorder results after an accumulation of stress.  The anxiety symptoms that those who suffer from this disorder show are similar to those who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder.  After a long period of enduring high levels of stress, a person’s body tends to just shut down.  This type of anxiety disorder is more common than post-traumatic stress disorder, but at the same time it can be just as serious.

The majority of people who suffer from anxiety symptoms that are related to stress won’t go for treatments until the problem is really affecting their life.  They experience many anxiety symptoms, including a racing heart, trouble sleeping, embarrassment, panic attacks and more.

People who are under so much stress in their lives often make themselves sick just so that they could have a rest.  The stress anxiety symptoms are a way to tell a person’s body to slow down, and to think about themselves for a while.  If ignored for too long, these anxiety symptoms get worse and worse, until finally a breakdown occurs, or the person becomes sick.

Both stress anxiety disorders are serious, and are very similar in the anxiety symptoms that are displayed by the sufferer.
